Adding a template page AFTER site construction

In the help section of Power CMS 3, it says:

You have the ability to create new pages that are based on a template. This feature is only available if the page was selected to be used as a content management template when the website was created.
From the Content column, hover your mouse over the template.
Click the green + icon that displays next to the template.
Enter name for this new page..
Edit the content of the new page like you would any other content location.
Once you have updated the content, click the Create Link option to see how you can create a link to this new page.

My question is... what if you need to add a template page after the fact? My client wants to add an "Articles" page which can display their articles without having a never ending page, with links to the articles to be displayed on the articles page dynamically.

Yes, you can create a template page after the fact. However, you will need to copy and paste the developer notes code of the template to your page. The reason it says that you should create the template when the site was created so the end user don't have to copy and paste the developer notes tho those pages and they can just create new child pages and link to them with the url specified in the developer notes.

No developer notes displayed

My installation of Power CMS is not showing developer notes.

It looks like you are using the PowerCMS version that is shipped with SiteSculptor. this version does not allow you to add templates, but it only allows you to add child pages. You can only add templates through the SiteSculptor wizard by marking the page as a template.

you can purchase the full PowerCMS version which will give you the functionality to add templates.

From the screen shot you have sent me, it looks like you are still using the version that came with Site Sculptor.

if you own the full version of PowerCMS then i recommend looking over this support page:

site-sculptor/

for help on how to upgrade Power CMS.

Once you done that you should be able to add template pages out side of Site Sculptor and Developer notes should be available.

Error

I followed the instructions above and most everything seems to be working ok, but I am getting an error message which shows below the current content on the edit pages:

Warning: mysql_free_result(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/content/j/j/h/jjholder23/html/admin/common/load_content.php on line 125

This error seems to be fixed in the latest dot release of PowerCMS. make sure you have PowerCMS 2.0.2 which include the fix to that error.
