WA_Memento.htm refreshUI is not defined JavaScript error

Hello to the smart guys,
While opening DW CS4 this error continues to occur and I've tried a number of troubleshooting tips to no avail.
I've tried deleting the DAT file from the config folder.
I've removed and reinstalled extensions for Web Assist.

----------------
While executing onResize in WA_Memento.htm, the folowing JavaScript error(s) occurred:

In file "WA_Menmento.htm":
refreshUI is not defined
----------------

Thanks for some assistance.
- Cory

Please post a support incident and let me know the incident number. We will need to have an engineer work with you to diagnose the problem if the usual suspects haven't resolved it.

rob,

Sorry that you've had a problem with a WebAssist extension, but one should never have to uninstall Dreamweaver to make JavaScript errors go away. Because such error are sorta common in Dreamweaver (they just happen sometimes, and not just to our extensions), there is an Adobe technote about Troubleshooting JavaScript errors in Dreamweaver. In particular look at items 4, 10, 11, and 12. All of those could be done prior to taking the nuclear option of uninstalling.

Temp Fix

If you don't want Memento to pop up on CS4 startup just remove the WAMemento_onOpen.htm file out of your Application Support for DW CS4and in the Commands folder you will find this file... (do a search in your Finder)

If you don't want Memento to pop up go to: Edit->WebAsist Preferences
and turn it off.

Insanely Frustrating!

Somebody at Webassist has had a brain burp!

After needing to search Google and find this forum post to learn how to turn off a stupid popup ad that a company installed in my software WITHOUT my permission... I must say I'm seriously disappointed that WebAssist has taken this approach. What the heck are you guys thinking?

The correct course to take is to have people TURN IT ON IF they want to be notified about your site updates... NOT the other way around.

Come on guys! Do the right thing. Turn the advertising off BY DEFAULT and don't make thousands of people go through the pain I just went through. Our time is worth more than this!

It is an rss feed reading interface that is subscribed to the WebAssist RSS feed. It is used primarily for product updates and works as an alert when new versions are made available.

It is good to be familiar with the webassist preferences dialog in general. It isn't too difficult to use, although I see it has rubbed you the wrong way it is very useful for keeping up to date with dot releases and free updates.

Roy, I'm sorry. I disagree in every way imaginable. It IS advertising. Plain and simple. You can call it whatever you want. It IS ADVERTISING!

WAAnnouncements.xml

This feed alone advertises 8 products. NONE of those products have I ever purchased.

I have several feed readers on my machine and as a web developer... I am very aware of how to subscribe to feeds. It's pretty easy... really.

I dislike it when a company ASSUMES I want to know about their product announcements. I hate it when they force those announcements on me WITHOUT my permission.

Eventually, I'm sure, somebody at your company will have the good sense to make this an OPT IN program as opposed to an OPT OUT!

Do you really think that MOST people want your popup ads showing everytime they open Dreamweaver? Honestly?
