Problems with permissions

Friends, I have a permissions issue, because although I gave permission to most of the directories does not work. What are the directories to which you have to grant write permissions?

permissions

hy,

had the same problem; on the remote server the 'connectios' need to be set on 777
further when you create a gallery, PowerGallery automatic generates a folder called 1, 2 or 3 etc. That folder has also now wrigting permissions and in dreamweaver or anny other ftp client i could not not change the permission of that folder. I find out that if you delete that folder and create a new one with the same name you can set the permissions to 777 and than everything works fine.
I suggest that Webassist takes a look at this problem.
Good luck

Are there any error messages that you are getting when you are going through the set up? What parts of the setup are giving you issues?

Also, on your PHP server, make sure that safe mode is not turned on. There have been users that have had issues when they have safe mode turned on.

I would try starting over with a new folder. You don't need to create a new database.

Just to make sure your installation is similar:

This is how I installed PG:

  1. Created a folder called powergallery
  2. Gave it full permissions
  3. Created Database through cPanel
  4. Added user with full permissions to the database
  5. Uploaded PowerGallery into the newly created powergallery folder
  6. In browser, went to domainname.com/powergallery/install
  7. Followed setup wizard

You might consider changing hosting companies if you have this much trouble with them and they're not helpful.

Permissions

Hi,

i did some suggestions in this issue and i have the feeling they were neglected.
In my case i could solve the permission problem myself as discribed above, so no problemo.
But I would like to understand why the folders 1, 2, 3, etc have no writing permissions and even worse, I cannot give a writing permission; i still have to delete the folders that are generated by PowerGallery an create new folders!???

Not sure what you think is being neglected, but understand that no installation program has control over limitations imposed by a hosting company. Low cost hosting puts additional restrictions in place to protect their servers and reduce support costs.
