Get address from database / webpage

Hi Everyone.

I have just purchased Pro Maps but can I get it to work ? No.

I want the map to pull data such as region city and country from my web page

Web page is viewproperty146.htm so that a holidaymaker can see the property location on the map.

I have tried for hours with no luck. I have followed all instructions including recordset etc but cannot get it to work. Ignore the map on the search page of the site that has nothing to do with this software. The map I am interested in is the view property page.

The map on that page at the moment is just to show the map is working.

Please any help would be appreciated, on purchase of this software it states no coding necessary, but think it is quite complicated, unless I am an idiot - don´t comment on that.

I look forward to your advice

thank you and and best regards

Thanks for the link, that is always helpful to get an idea about the page and the setup. If you can please describe from the perspective of the user how you would like this to work and the result you would like to achieve. Also describe what you have tried and the result you are getting with that. With a detailed description of this information I'm sure that we can help you get things up and running.

Retrieving Dynamic info from Database

Hi Eric

Thank you for replying.

I will try my best to explain. Installation of your software was straight forward and I can see how it retrieves information from the database etc.

However the information I want to show on the map is dynamically produced for each property. The information I want for the map is the country, region and Town / City

please see below:-
viewproperty.php?propertyid=138

When using your software and when selecting for example city I do not get any correct options to choose from please see image in zip file.

I get shown some form options.

So now I went to bindings in dreamweaver and added recordsets which I think will contain the right information. So I add my stage 1 information as it contains all the data for each owner.

See attached image

In Pro Maps I can now selected city regions etc

This works to a certain degree. However it pulls the wrong information from the database. It pull the static information.

I have tried practically all recordsets with no luck. I am starting to think they will have to be entered manually to the wagmp_map_1.php but personally I would not know what to add or where to start.

If you need further information I can give you access to the database and give you the viewproperty.php if this will help. (in fact I have now included in attachment)

Thank you, I hope you have better luck than me, I think this is a difficult one.

I apologise if my request is not clear, I am new to this

Thank you

Best regards

Steve

Info from database

Hi Steve

Looking at the screen grabs in your word doc you appear to be wanting to display the map containing a single location for the relevant holiday home but there is no filter for that single location in the recordest selection shown.

You also need to bind each line of the address and the postcode to accurately show the site you want to map.

If you watch and read the Solution recipies found here pro-maps-for-google/ you will find this easy to do.

The bottom line is that you must set a filter in your recordset to dynamically for the individual property and then bind the results from that recordset, which must be a single record, to the point to be plotted as the default destination.

Best regards

Jon

Steve

I tried to attach a document, showing how I have achieved what you want to do, to the previous post but its too big at 203kb zipped - just plain daft in this day and age - you can download it from the link below.

promaps.zip

Hope this helps

Info from database

Hi Jon

Thank you for your input, I appreciate your help, however after following your instructions the map still does not work. I had a slight improvement, it was showing the town but it was pulling the first one from the database, not the correct town for the property being shown.

It seems this software can pull items from the database etc but not information that is dynamically produced.

After all considerations and many hours !! I think I will have to call it a day. I think this one will have to be hand coded.

I will therefore ask Webassist for a refund.

Once again, thanks Jon.

All the best

Steve.

PS. Any Webassist mods. How do I get refund ?

When it comes to using dynamic values for your map there is no restriction on where this info comes from. It can come from a db, be a variable or any other dynamic value. If you have this information coming from a recordset then you would just reference the values from that recordset in your map address area using the lightning bolts. If your recordset contains more than one value and you do not select the 'show multiples' from within the interface then it will just use the information from the first record in this recordset. If you check the box to show multiples it can list all of the locations that come from that recordset.

If you are still having trouble with this and would like to resolve the issue please post back and include some more info about what locations you are trying to add to the map and where these values should come from. If a recordset is required please post back with a copy of the table in question or example data from this table and I can help you get the locations displaying.

If you require a refund you can speak to sales about this by sending a message to sales at webassist dot com.
