IF / Else Statements With Data From Recordset

Sorry for what is probably a dumb question. I have a recordset rsAccount and each row has a column called acctStatus that holds either a 1, 2, or 3.

Instead of just outputting the value of that field I'd like to get it into an IF/ELSEIF/ELSE statement that outputs "Hourly" if it is 1, "Retainer" if it is 2, and "Ad Hoc" if it is 3.

I've been trying for a couple hours and am getting nowhere.

Kevin,

you would do it like this:

SELECT IF(field = 1,'Hourly', IF(field = 2, 'Retainer', 'AdHoc')) AS alias FROM table

basically anything that is not a value of 1 or 2 will be "AdHoc"

Hope that helps
