GoDaddy preview function

Site on my GoDaddy testing server running fine, but when moved to client GoDaddy server the preview mode is not allowing us to see or test prior to launch. Client server is the newer Godaddy server setup so have added the "database.php" file to the "install_cms" folder as discussed in earlier forum regarding Mod Security settings on Go Daddy servers.

They have live site on another server now, so hope to preview before launch to insure all is working. We know we will have to update some image links.

To see in preview mode GoDaddy suggested changing "hosts" file, adding instruction "ip address # domain name #" to force the site/connections to not attempt to load the current live site. Not quite sure how to do this.

I tracked down the term "host" within 3 php files, but not a stand alone file. The files are: MDB2.php, mysql.php, pgsql.php.

Any thoughts on this would be most helpful.

Getting a 500 internal server error when trying to preview at: 23.229.177.232/~jbarracks

You may see the site on my testing server at: http://gobdesign.com/testing/jefferson2/

thanks so much.

this is a server issue, the server is not properly configured to run php code.

as a test i created 2 files with identical code in them:
phpinfo.htm
phpinfo.php

the code in both pages is very simple:
hello world
<?php phpinfo(); ?>

the phpinfo(); function should return information about the php server.

the phpinfo.htm page loads ok, and shows "hello world", the phpinfo.php page returns the 500 error. a properly configured server would not show an error for this simple code example, it would return the information about the php server. you will need to contact go daddy, show them the links t the 2 pages and the code being used in them. they will need to correct the problem.

Apparently the Go Daddy preview function does not work with database-driven sites.
