CSS MenuWriter not recognizing menus

Hi,

I'm trying to customize the menus on the Powerstore index and template files, but when I click on the menu, CSS Menuwriter is not recognizing the menu and doesn't let me edit it using the CSS Menuwriter interface.

Is this the expected behavior? I have the Powerstore files installed in a sub-folder of my main site.

Thanks,

TM

That is the problem. You would need to have that defined as the root directory for it to find the files properly. It is a lot like connections or Templates files in DW. If they aren't in the root of the site DW won't handle them properly. You should be able to update your DW site definition and just assign the subdirectory as the root when working on these files.

CSS Menuwriter menu still not modifiable w/ Menuwriter Interface

Hi,

I took your advice and did the following:

1. Deleted all files in the Powerstore subdirectory in my Dreamweaver site
2. Created a new top-level folder "C:\DWsites\store"
3. Extracted the Powerstore files into "C:\DWsites\store"
4. Change permissions on all files to writable
5. Created a new DW site "MyStore" with the following settings:
> Root set as "C:\DWsites\store"
> Images set to "C:\DWsites\store\Images"
> Remote Access: None
> Server Model: PHP
6. Opened "C:\DWsites\store\index.php"
7. Clicked on the CSS Menuwriter Menu
8. Still not modifiable using the CSS Menuwriter interface (see attached screenshot)

What am I missing?

Please open a support incident. I believe this should work, so I'm not sure what the issue might be.

Editing your PowerStore navigation in CSS Menu Writer

In order to use CSS Menu Writer to edit your PowerStore navigation, an XML file needs to be copied to a different location first.

Follow these steps to copy this file to the appropriate location:

1. In your PowerStore files, navigate to the CSSMenuWriter\cssmw_admin directory.
2. Select menustyle.xml and press Ctrl (Cmd) + C to copy.
3. Navigate to the CSSMenuWriter\cssmw_home directory.
4. Press Ctrl (Cmd) + V to paste this file to this location.
5. In Dreamweaver, open the Main.dwt file from the Templates directory.
6. Click once on the menu, choose Edit from the CSS Menu Writer Properties inspector.

You should now be able to make any desired changes to the contents or design of your navigation.

The issue is that some of the menus are dynamic and have server code added by hand after generation. This means that editing the menu with the wizard will remove that extra code and remove some of the functionality.

Really the menus should be updated by hand to prevent accidentally crippling functionality.
