DWCS6 extensions question

DWCS6 extensions question

I just upgraded to CS6. WA assist extensions are reactivating ok, but I have a number of other extensions that are giving me an error.

Clicking on extensions, give us an "can't find installer file 'macintosh.... " Screenshot attached.

Is there a secret handshake for this or do I need to reinstall all of my extensions.

Thanks for any assistance.

this is not an issue i have run into before.

when you first start the extension manager after installing dreamweaver, it will ask if you want to import extensions from a previous version, Is that what you are referring to? I always select not to import the extensions and install them manually instead.

you say the WebAssist extensions are working, but the problem is happening with other extensions, you should contact the other manufacturers for further support with this.

Thanks Jason.

CS6 extension manager showed all the extensions from 5.5. When I checked the boxes to activate, some did (all WA did) and some said they couldn't find the installer. That was the screen shot I added to post. So since the path to the installer showed that they weren't where they were expected I moved them into the CS6 extension manager and that did the trick.

How did you do that

Hi biz295654,

I'm about to install CS 6, upgrading from CS 5.

I was wondering exactly what you mean when you say "I moved them into the CS6 extension manager and that did the trick."

I'd like to know in case I run into the same problem you did.

So what specifically do you mean by that? Do you mean that with those problem extensions, you installed them into the CS 6 Extension Manager by dragging the extension file onto the Extension Manager 6 window? I'm not clear on what you mean by "moved them into the CS6 extension manager." Exactly what did you do to do this?

I'm also wondering how many extensions you had this problem with and which ones they were?

Also, are you on a Mac? If so, what OS version?

Thanks in advance for the info and your help.

David

Hi David:

Mac, 10.6.8.

I was talking about extensions other than WA when they "couldn't be found." The path to the extensions were showing to the 5.5 folder. My solution probably isn't the best way to manage this. It was just a time saver. In the user libary> Application Support > Adobe you'll find Extension Manager for CS5.5 and CS6. Inside of each of these is a folder Configuration > Extensions. I copied the missing extension, name.mxp from cs5.5 to 6, restarted Extension manager and they were then able to be activated. Like I said, do this at your own risk as it may not be a good thing to try!

I have a lot of extensions besides WA.

However, I can't get Databridge to work on CS6, so if I were you, I'd hold off for a few more days until the next upgrade. I'm totally dead in the water right now. I got limited results in CS6 for Dataassist pages, but it is very hard to get a result. HTML Editor doesn't work in CS6 but if I fire up CS5.5, I can use the HTML editor. PITA right now.
