Data Bridge's Email Tools

Is this capable of inserting information into a database? I see where it can send attachments and log activity but don't see if it can populate db.

Thx

you need to use the Insert record behavior to store the information into the database.

Revisiting this issue.

I had never used form builder before, so new learning curve for me.

I have figured out the form builder to send an email. All good.
But I can't figure out the next step (insert function) to get the contents of the form to feed the database.

On one set of form builder instructions, the last paragraph says:

"At this point, you should have a functioning form that you can upload to your website. However, if you wish for your form to insert data into a database, you will need to apply Insert Record Server Behaviors using a different WebAssist extension, DataAssist.

For more information on applying the Insert Record behavior using DataAssist review this page of the DataAssist Help System."

But I am not getting how to tie them together. I know how to do insert behaviors (starting in databridge) but now what to do from a functioning form, to adding Databridge to make it use insert. Is there a tutorial yet for this? I'm missing some basic understanding on how to merge the two.

Thanks

All you need to do is insert the behaviour onto the page with the form, using the submit button as the trigger.

If your Universal Email behaviour has a redirect in it then you need to move the insert code before the UE code, or take the redirect out of the UE Code and use it in the Insert Behviour code instead.

Thanks Ian.

Still strugglin' with it. Started over from scratch. I must be missing something really basic.

But thanks for the response.

What does your code look like?

Can you attach the page?

I dumped it all and will try again tomorrow. I got really frustrated. Thanks. When you say "insert" I am not seeing how that is done. If I fire up DBridge, I get a new page. It's the basic premise that I'm not seeing at the moment. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

I am not sure what you mean by 'When you fire up Data Bridge'.

The Insert Behaviour is in the Server Behaviours Window in Dreamweaver.

Ah... The missing concept! I was trying to use it from within DataBridge, not the DW insert feature. I knew I had something basic incorrect. The WA docs said this:

"However, if you wish for your form to insert data into a database, you will need to apply Insert Record Server Behaviors using a different WebAssist extension, DataAssist."

I'll try again. Thanks!
