Paypal Express versus Authorize.net?

Thread began 3/08/2012 1:48 pm by biz295654 | Last modified 3/12/2012 1:42 pm by biz295654 | 1975 views | 5 replies |

Paypal Express versus Authorize.net?

My client is frustrated with paypal and wants to know if authorize.net is a better solution. If anyone knows, what are the pros/cons of these two options?

Client frustration is not clear to me. They are saying that it seems to pressure customers to use a paypal account. There was one day last week when paypal wasn't working properly. There have been a few orders that customers have complained that the cards weren't accepted, but that could be a number of problems, not a paypal issue. All my tests have been fine so I can't duplicate any errors.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

the advantages to paypal express are what the client is saying he doesn't like:

you can pay by credit card or using your paypal account.

with authorize.net, you can only pay by credit card.

Jason, I relayed your answer and got another question.

PP Pro looks like it is set up so our customer never leaves our site. However we are unsure of that.

Please ask cart guys what their opinion of pp pro is versus authorize . net

Another issue on our end is that pp is not letting us sort transactions without downloading a file…which take forever and sometimes fails mid-stream. And if we are successful at the download we still can’t do things like issue a refund without going back into pp and searching chronologically for the customer…which is very time consuming.

They should be able to give us some direction on upgrading to PP Pro or switching to authorize . net

Thank you.

PayPal Pro is 2 services:

PayPal Direct Payments - Customer does not leave site to process transaction.

PayPal Express Checkout - Customer goes to PayPal's site to perform transaction.

This gives the customer the flexibility to pay with Credit card or pay with their PayPal account.

Authorize.net is basically the same as PayPal Direct Payments in that the customer pays by credit card without leaving your site, but does not offer the choice of paying with a PayPal account.
