Specific Order Handling/Set up Questions

While working with a drop shipper some of their items defined by a certain prefix in the item numbers must be ordered seperately. Is there a way to set this up with Data Assist/ Ecart using a wild card prefix which would be the same prefix as the drop shippers.

Also, lets say I have a dozen or so "best sellers" that would be more profitable for me to handle vs the drop shipper and I buy these in bulk; iss there a way to set up ECART so these items get handled seperately somehow?

What about setting up maximum characters for data fields such as name, address, etc. and can these fields be resequenced to match the drop shippers sequence? I don't know if shopping carts are designed with the same field names and sequences.

This is a great forum with very knowledgeable members, not to mention great products! Thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge and experiences!

The short answer is that these things can be done with php, mySQL, and webassist products, but you would have to clearly define exactly what you are doing and it could take some coding by hand to pull off.

Additional Question

Thanks Ray.

I wondered how orders are exported from Ecart and in what file format they are exported......

I can't seem to find a snapshot or anything online about this. I am trying to research how to implement the following criteria:

Customer File - CSV
FIRSTNAME (32 characters allowed), LASTNAME (50 characters allowed), ADDRESS1 (61 characters allowed), ADDRESS2 (60 characters allowed - this is for Apt #, PO Box, etc), CITY (48 characters allowed), STATE (48 characters allowed), ZIP (14 characters allowed), COUNTRY (2 characters allowed), CONTACTNAME (40 characters allowed), EMAIL (72 characters allowed)(UPS will email tracking number), PHONE (24 characters allowed)(receiving customer phone required for international orders), LEAVE BLANK (0 characters allowed), INVOICENUMBER (8 characters allowed), LEAVE BLANK (0 characters allowed), SHIPPING (17 characters allowed - Must be one of the following: UPS Red, UPS Blue, UPS Orange, International UPS, UPS Ground, US Mail)

Product File - CSV
INVOICENUMBER (9 characters allowed), PRODUCTNUMBER (20 characters allowed), QUANTITY (4 characters allowed)

I may need to hire someone do do the coding/programming for Ecart or DataAssist to have this criteria established. I don't know if any of this can simply be done from the Admin approach from the front/back end of Ecart?

Thanks again.
Glen

The easiest way would be to insert the items from the cart into a database and use the database to create the CSV.

Confused

Ray:

Aren't the orders automatically stored in the database? If so, how can they be uploaded. I have searched and searched for info on this. I did not find anything in the ECART PDF files I downloaded or did I see anything resembling an option for uploading orders in the Power Store demo. The Power Store did show orders but I did not see an option for uploading.

I'd like to upload the orders then download the orders to a drop shipper...........

I apologize if I am driving you a little crazy!
Thanks
Glen

RAY.............I JUST FOUND OUT THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE WITH ECART.............THANKS FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE....!!!!!!!!!!

It is possible, but there is no wizard that builds it for you. You would have to determine what you wanted to do and what exactly you wanted returned and you could probably build the page with Dreamweaver that interacts with the database. At that point it doesn't have anything to do with eCart it is a straight interaction with the database table to return data.
