dynamic links don't work

Hi

(I have followed the other thread about dynamic links, but it has gone off topic).

I follow the instriuctions to create a dynamic link on the 'share' icons, but the link back from a Facebook user goes to the main domain, ignoring any parameters.

I have downlaoded and tried the new beta version, but I don't have Facebook, so am relying on a friend who has it to feedback - but if this forum cn be quicker, it would be great!

The original code produced is:

<div class="icons"> <a name="fb_share" type="icon" href="#" onclick="window.open('http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=<?php echo urlencode('http://www.rotary-site.org/index.php?SiteID='); ?><?php echo $row_rsTopPic['SiteID']; ?>&lang=<?php echo $row_rsTopPic['Lang_abr']; ?>', 'Facebook', 'toolbar=0,status=0,width=626,height=436'); return false;" title="Facebook"> <img src="webassist/social/icons/facebook.png" width="16" height="16" /> </a> </div>

With the beta version:

<div class="icons"> <a name="fb_share" type="icon" href="http://www.facebook.com/sharer.ph?u=<?php echo urlencode('http://www.rotary-site.org/index.php?lang='); ?><?php echo $row_rsTopPic['Lang_abr']; ?>&SiteID=<?php echo $row_rsTopPic['SiteID']; ?>" title="Facebook"></a>
<script src="http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/connect.php/js/FB.Share" type="text/javascript"></script>
</div>

Any help much appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

Further to the above, I have now had feedback that the links back from Facebook still don't work - they go to the domain root, not to the dynamic page.
Cheers

Do you have a url where I can test and see the problem? That might help me identify a solution.

Hi Ray

The main URL would be www.rotary-site.org - this will work fine, as the resultant link from a Facebook user would display this URL.

However, onee of the 'sub-sites' within the site, for example index.php?SiteID=314&lang=it anyone 'liking' the page would miss out all the paramaters and be directed to the URL: above.

Similarly, with pages within the sites:
page.php?PgID=385&SiteID=252&lang=en 'likes' are redirected to rotary-site.org

Cheers

I just tested this... you fooled me into adding it to my wall for all of my friends ;)

It actually adds two links. The main link does take you to the dynamic sub-page, but it also includes a link to the root domain. I think this is just how facebook works. The dynamic link does appear it just also includes a link to the site root.

Thanks Ray

Is it possible to send me a screenshot of this - or a link to where I can see it in action?

Many thanks
Chris

Here is a screenshot... If I click on the first line "Rotary Club Di Pisa" it will take me to the page with the url parameters... but you can see that it also includes a link to the root of the site below.

Thanks Ray - I guess that's just the way Facebook works!

Assistance much appreciated, as always.
