waiting for server

waiting for server

I've been fighting this for 2 days now. Using dataassist, different sites, get "waiting for server"... force quit DW and sometimes it will launch, then stall out on second phase. Crashes DW. I've done all the usual: deleted the .dat file, reinstalled DA, renamed configuration folder...

Any other ideas, most welcome.

how is your testing server configured?

is it local testing server, or remote.

Usually the waiting for server issue happens when using a remote testing server.

Dreamweaver can be quite unstable when using a remote testing server.

It is recommended to use a local testing server for development.

see the learning resources page for details on installing a local testing server and configuring the Dreamweaver site for dynamic development:

Yes, using remote, as I have for many years. I will try the local. Thanks for the suggestion.

A local server should cure the issue.

Trying that now. Stumped on one of your how-tos/dynamic_site_definitions.php for CS5... screen shots not matching what I'm seeing, so a little confused yet.

Making progress. Do I export my database from server and put in local folder?

yes, export the database form the server, then import it to the the local mysql server.

One more 'dumb' question... while 'root' is the user name, I am guessing, where do I find password or is it my local machine password? php ini area to find it? not seeing super user listed...
