Adding a 'FREE' product automatically

Thread began 1/10/2011 7:20 am by josephman1988419833 | Last modified 1/10/2011 7:39 am by Jason Byrnes | 669 views | 1 replies |

Adding a 'FREE' product automatically

Hi Guys,

Basically what I'm trying to do, is when the user adds a specific product to the cart, another product is automatically added to the cart.

This part is done, however, I want it so 'THIS' new item is not added to the grand total. So in effect, it's a free product.

How would I go about doing this?

on the discount tab, create a discount for the price of the free product.

use the trigger If Specific Item in cart to look for both the parent item and free item by ID, then use a flat rate discount of the free product price.
