Upper / Lower case

Upper / Lower case

I have a question regarding upper and lowercase with security assist / user reg pack. I notice that both of these applications don't seem to convert the input data (such as username, and email) to lowercase in the database. For example if a user enters shauN@dOman.com maybe by accident.

1) Can this cause any problems?? Maybe when you are checking for duplicates?

2) How would I go about converting a given field to lowercase? I've tried adding the strtolower() to a field but doesn't seem to work. Is there a feature in data assist or validation toolkit that can achieve this? or does this have to be hard coded.

Thanks again!

Adding strtolower() should be the correct technique. How and where did you add it?

You can always compare them lower regardless of how you store them and lots of times the database is not case sensitive, so it isn't necessary anyway.
