Setting up a new database connection in Dreamweaver

Hi Neilo,

Thanks for your help.

I'm open to all options and actually am trying the IIS7 route now.
We'll see how this works out.

For the record, I had installed Apache, MySQL and PHP individually and I did restart Apache and MySQL after making any changes to any of the config files. I actually had Xampp installed before I formated my computer but I didn't like the MySQL database portion of it so then I installed MySQL GUI Tools on top of Xampp and couldn't get it to work with Dreamweaver. I actually can't confirm if Dreamweaver was communicating correctly or not with xampp before I installed MySQL GUI Tools, but I like your suggestion and if I can't get this IIS server to communicate with Dreamweaver I'll give xampp a try again.

I'm an individual hacking at this at home to try and get a shopping cart site up eventually. I'm not a business or in business already so the urgency isn't really very high. It would be nice if things moved along more quickly, but it's not urgent so I really can't complain too much. I'm still messing with this when I get home from work, but I've forced myself to quit losing sleep over it. I'll get it eventually (hopefully) and hey, I'm learning a lot in the process. I have to say the most frustrating thing (other than things just not working) is when you find a lead in a forum somewhere with someone having the exact problem several years ago and then they say they found the problem but don't post what it is. Ugh.

Thanks again for your suggestions and help. I'll keep you posted on my progress (should there be any progress).

Best Regards,
Blain
