image upload and W3C errors

I have just created a site from scratch, using the data assist wizards, then applying the html editor to the insert and update pages. I haven't changed the doc type anywhere, nor the charset.

Exactly the same thing happens when I try to insert a Google map.
The original code is:

<iframe width="425" height="350" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src=",-3.832061&spn=0.008981,0.018239&z=15&output=embed"></iframe><br /><small>View <a href=",-3.832061&spn=0.008981,0.018239&z=15&source=embed" style="color:#0000FF;text-align:left">Bryn Derwen</a> in a larger map</small>
When trying to update the page, the map is not visible (an error insted) and the code has been change to:

<iframe src="&quot;,-3.832061&spn=0.008981,0.018239&z=15&output=embed&quot;" frameborder="&quot;0&quot;"></iframe><br><small>View <a href="&quot;,-3.832061&spn=0.008981,0.018239&z=15&source=embed&quot;">Bryn Derwen</a> in a larger map</small>

This is the same as was happening when trying to upload pictures - many of the references changed to &quot;, completely ruining things!

Imnsert OK, update not.
