Unable to "test" recordset to see data ... need guidance on DW config?

I can create a recordset via WA MySQLi but am unable to "test" it ie. see the resultant data. I get the following error message:" A server timeout has occured . Here are the possible reasons. 1.Please make sure that the web server is up and running. 2. Please verify that the ODBC DSN exists on the testing server."

I'm guessing this is a DW config issue. Please provide guidance ... I've researched this a lot to no avail.

Thanks, Henry

It is probably an issue with the testing server setting in your dreamweaver site definition. Make sure that the server url is correct and working.

I can't find any connection config issues. I checked the server url. I am using an external hosting server as the testing server ... would this be a problem? Am I only able to test on a local server?

Also, from the Dreamweaver database panel I am able to see all database names, all the tables, all the fields residing on the external hosting server ... but I am just not able to view any table data (keep getting an error - the same one when I access a recordset from WA MySQLi tool

I though about this a little more. I have a sense my hosting provider will not provide access to the data for security reasons (re: Dreamweaver is local on my personal computer and not in hosting service domain) ... I am asking the hosting provider now to confirm that. PS. I could access data via Dreamweaver in the past (that was a while ago) and things have likely changed with this provider/

It wouldn't be an issue with the server blocking it. Dreamweaver puts up a web page and gets the data from a php page. If you can access the data from a php page then Dreamweaver should be able to access it.

Re: "DW putting up a web page and gets the data from a php page" ... I am not familiar with this, and tried to search to find out more about this but couldn't find anything ... where would I find these DW created pages? (I am familiar with the DW connectivity files created and placed in _mmServerScripts folder).

Also, I checked with my hosting provider "Our server configuration does not allow remote access to our MySQL servers" ... this is why I think I can't access the data via DW from my hosting provider.

Try downloading and re-installing the latest version of the MySQLi Server Behaviors. I recently made an update that might fix this problem. It uses the same _mmServerScripts folder. It doesn't need a remote connection, so that isn't the issue.

If the new update doesn't address your issue, please send me FTP access and I'll test it on your server to find out what is going wrong.

I downloaded and re-installed MySQLi Server Behaviors ... still get same errors as before, cannot access table data and WebAssist database tools are not working.

I set up a local MySQL / PHP (on my computer) and accessing table data now works! And WebAssist data base tools (eg. create recordset) now works!

For now I'll pass on providing you FTP access to external hosting server to test. I may take you up on this in the future.
