Webbie

my localhost cannot be fouind

I had a website in a domain that i had to switch to a new domain name,

Im not fully sure if that is relavent to my current issue.

I am not able to to bring up my localhost for setting up my testing server in dreamwever, i have xamp installed and a database in place from the website i already created on a different domain.

1. Can you help me with why im gettting an object not found error on http://local/xamp/ ( i will attach a picture)

2.Can you help me with why i am gettting a code 404 when i try to connect to database in dreamweaver (i will attach a picture)

It looks like you have included the /public_html/ folder in your site url path in your Dreamweaver Server settings. You should remove that from the url.

Ray,
I still need to find a solution for why my testing server is not working.

does it have anything to do with the attached photo no being configured? How do i configure?

For you response i need to add /public_html/ to get to my remote host so that path was correct i believe.

Im pretty sure most of the problems i am having with the form on the other discussion are related to the fact that i cannot utilize my testing server correctly !

You need to have /public_html/ in your sub-directory field, but it should not be in the URL field. That is the issue.

That problem is fine i have it sorted,
I need to test php locally, http://local/xamp/ there link is not working any ideas why?

So as stated above my localhost is not working, i have the xamp installed and files where they should be.

You wouldn't usually have the /xamp/ folder in the url either. Usually xamp will have a sub-folder for htdocs and you wouldn't include either in the url when browsing:

http://localhost/index.php would point to the same spot as C:/program files/xamp/htdocs/index.php

I thought if i typed in localhost in url bar i would get an admin page?

Do i have to have dreamweaver pointed to testing server in order for theat to work?

As the picture show i am getting an apache error, do i need update apache somewhere to make it work?

Thanks

The apache error you got was a 404 error, that just means the folder you specified doesn't exist and doesn't mean you need to update apache.

I think the paths you sent in the most recent post look correct. You should update your dreamweaver testing folder settings to reflect those paths and urls.

Ajit

Are you typing the site IP address instead of actual site name?
