Updating navigation in SS generated site

I created my site based on home page and content page templates, but created from CSS Sculptor layouts. the main Nav design was from. CSS Menu writer preset.

I added a new link on the homepage easily simply by updating the content preset. But the content pages don't have a menu writer content preset to update - it looks like SS creates it's own template file with a reference to a new instance of the menu. I was able to track down the correct menu.PHP file and manually add the new link.

The only other solutions I could think of would be to update the template itself - either by changing the paths to a different instance of the menu, or deleting the menu and inserting a new one - both that would in the future allow me to update by using the content preset.

But, It makes me nervous to update the template as sometimes when it updates the pages it overwrites code.

Why aren't the menus controlled by a menu writer preset? I included the CMS when I built the site pages, did that have anything to do with it?

Site Sculptor sites are created to be template based.

the only way to change the navigation is by editing the menu applied to the template.

Editing a preset in menu writer does not effect the menu that has already been added to pages using the same preset. It only effect the preset applied to the page you are working on at the moment.

you will need to either edit the template with menu writer, or edit the menu.php page directly by hand.

Thanks Jason, that confirms what I thought.

It's not difficult to edit the menu.PHP page manually. However, in the future though I may adjust my workflow to immediately update the SS template with a Menu Writer preset as ssson as the site gets generated and before I start adding content.
