Paypal Sandbox Confusion!

Paypal Sandbox Confusion!

Wow. I thought the instructions for the paypal sandbox were straight forward until I started the process. First the instructions are for PS3 and not PS4. Not even sure if they make sense with the current PayPal site.

So I went in and created a sandbox user account. Created the buy and seller as per instructions. When you get to "scroll down to step 3" you completely lost me. Where the hell is step 3?

I can find the appropriate API settings and keys on Paypal but there is no place in the settings on PS4 under payment gateway to use this information.

I need some better instructions here! This is the last step in getting PS4 tested and up and running. How do I set up the sandbox payment gateway in PS4?

More information...

I can't remember now but something tells me that I supplied API keys for my real merchant account when I installed PS4. I'm positive that I've seen the check box to force PS4 into testing mode and it's checked but the API key is set for a real Paypal account and not a sandbox account. Right now I can't find the screen where the testing checkbox is located in storemanager or where you submit the API key!!

HELP!!

You will need to be logged into the power store admin panel using the supper Admin user name and password (the user name and password you set during installation).

in the power store admin panel, click on the settings tab. In the right hand navigation that comes up, click on Payment Gateway Settings. This is where you can specify the Paypal API info and check or uncheck the use Sandbox option.

That's exactly where I am. I'm logged into storemanager as super admin. Setting->payment gateway setting.

I have a dropdown list for gateway: set to paypal standard
paypal account: assuming I use my sandbox id mail account for this
and last:
a IPN Page: webassist/.....

There's no place for the API key

Here's what it looks like. See attachment. There's no place to put in the API key. This is PS4

No API Key is used for PayPal standard. Paypal standard does not offer a sand box for testing.

the API Key is only needed if you are using PayPal Payments Pro Or PayPal Express Checkout as the payment gateway.

So what are you telling me?

Are you saying that there's no way to test transactions? That means if I want to test it's going to go through and be charged? Can I test with the sandbox using paypal standard and use the user account setup for the sandbox?

Doesn't seem right that I can't test the transactions before I go live with the store. I want to see what a purchase record looks like. Do I have to actually purchase something to see that?

Because of the way that PayPal standard works, you cannot run power store transactions through the PayPal testing testing server to see what the purchase record will look like.

The issue is this:
Processing the order through the paypal testing server will only test whether the pass off of to the testing server and then redirect to the success page works.

the paypal standard testing server does not do the IPN post that is used to store the cart information into the power store database.

using paypal standard it is not possible to test transactions in power store.

If you want to see what a purchase record looks like, then set the gateway to none.

This will go through the actions of purchasing and store the order info in the database without passing out to a gateway.
