Merchant powerstore 2???

Merchant powerstore 2???

I have powerstore 2 and have a site ready to go live, and my client has just applied for a 'Paypal payments pro' account and got declined. This is probably because she doesn't have a credit rating with no credit card.

My question is, what does anyone suggest I do now on how to get a merchant account and whom with, to get my clients ecommerce site live????

Any ideas or suggestions, greatly recieved.

Thanks in advance!

If there is not currently a site on your clients domain, that's probably the reason it was declined. I'm assuming that is the case since you said the site was ready to go live - not that it was live.

I know that Paypal will not upgrade to a Paypal Pro account unless there is something there for them to look at. If all that's there is a coming soon or a under construction page - Paypal will always decline.

She also needs to have a verified Business account with them - a checking account debit card is really all she needs for that - not an actual credit card.

Thanks for replying Les! This kind of makes sense from paypals point of view.
Her business is on her paypal account, and the account status has been verified already. We then applied for the payments pro account which hasn't been approved.

The address is - index.php

I've just spoke to paypal, and they said there were 3 main points on why it hasnt been approved;
1) Bank Account - No bank account in her business name
2) Credit rating - yes they said, debit card was acceptable.
3) High Risk - the products of 'vintage clothing' probably are in a high risk category as they may get complaints about them.

They couldnt talk specifics due to security.

Have you heard of any problems trying to get approval before?

Ben:
Slightly Off-Topic but took a look at your site and check the size options as when you click through sizes your currency change to $ I am guessing a javascript $ sign somewhere is missed.

You may know about it already but just in case you went live before noticing.

ben,

I have not heard of user's having problems getting these types of accounts before, I imagine that if the first two issues were taken care of the third might not be as big of a problem.

Thanks for your comments Eric,
As a noob to the whole powerstore shopping cart outfit, I was caught off guard thinking that my clients existing paypal account was sufficiant from the off, but only to realise a few months ago that it had to be a pro account. After an unclear process of what you have to have to gain a successful account upgrade to pro, I think this should be clearly noted before buying the powerstore product - apply to get an account first!
I mean if we cant get the account, we'll have to resort to authorize.net if its succesful and all payments will be changed on the exchange rate which is not ideal at all for the UK.

So if we are unsuccesful, it will be 5-6months work down the drain for me.

Do you recommend she opens a business account in the company name then?
The 3rd point about being 'high risk' category is just a cop out IMO from Paypal. I could understand if we were selling guns, etc, but vintage clothing? Shes been selling them for many years on ebay with a paypal account and just wants to upgrade to a more proffesional outfit. crazy to me :(

Any thoughts, tips, or opinions greatly recieved. Thanks in advance!

Hi
I have made a post about the need for a seperate download of GBP and Euro version as one WA techie could do this for everyone in a few minutes either that or a comprehensive list of where to change before install so we never have to do it again.

:)

You should be able to get a PayPal account so long as you meet the requirements. If the account that you are currently using does not meat these requirements you can either try to update the account so that the requirements are met or you can create a new account to meet the requirements. Either way you need to have an account that can add Payments Pro in order to use it within PowerStore. Without a valid Payments Pro account you won't be able to get the PayPal checkout implemented. You might want to check the PayPal developer forums to see if there is any good info or insights there on this subject.

Hey Mike, thanks a lot for this. I didn't know about it, as I guess its just not one of those things I tested going from one size back to the original. I thought I had changed every location on the site where the currency had to be changed, any ideas on whats going wrong here?

Thanks again!
