tables in cms question

tables in cms question

I found a little quirk I need help with. I made a table in cms, after looking at it I decided to add more rows. So I clicked on a cell, right clicked and added a row. The problem is that the pop-out sub menu for adding rows and columns is partially under the main menu and I can't read what all the options are. Is there a fix for this? I am using IE8, I haven't tried this on another browser so I don't know if it is a browser thing or an editor thing

Well I think it is an IE8 thing, I just tried the same thing in Chrome and I could see the whole sub menu just fine...any thoughts on a fix

sorry I didn't get all these in one post...but I started messing around a bit to see what other quirks there were. Also on IE8 when you click on a table built in cms, you will get an up/down/right/left directional arrow and it will select the whole table...you then cannot right click to add rows & columns.( in ie8 I have to click a cell..then right click to get to what I need) In Chrome, you don't get this issue. I can click around on a table all day and not "select" the whole table..

I have given this a try in IE8 and do not seem to have the same problem. I'm including a screen shot of what I got so that you can compare it. Please post back with a screen shot of what you are experiencing so we can get a better idea of what may be going on.

Thanks for the screen shot, this is just what I was needing. Do you have this posted on a live site anywhere? I would like to try this out on the same page as you are using to see if there is some issue with the page or if it a difference that we are only seeing in the browser.

As a work around in the mean time have you tried using the manage table link at the bottom of the menu? This should allow you to make the same edits, just not from the context menu.

Actually no, it's not live right now. I had to take it down to do some major changes. But when I try the same thing on your demo, I get the same result. Also, if I click on table properties instead of the cell/row/column, I get a grayed out box on those properties...can't edit that whatsoever. I will attach a screenshot of me on your demo site to this and in my next post a shot of the grayed table properties boxes.

One other note about your demo site, the little white box with the disclaimer about "not being able to save changes in demo mode"...on my pc ( vista ultimate 32 bit , IE8 6.01)..the wite box is not showing up...just the text...you can see that also on both the screenshots..

on a whim I went to ckeditor.com ( the new version of fckeditor ), and the popout worked. The last couple of letters were chopped off in some instances, but it popped out on top..so that's good. The table properties (bottom of list) still wouldn't allow row/column adjustment...but I guess if I can get it from the individual cell/row/column..that'll work. How hard would it be to update from the fckeditor to the newer ck ? Is that even possible without a whole solution rebuild? I attached a shot of me on their demo site
