questions re: install process

I just reinstalled all the Super Suite extensions after de-installing all and uploading the latest versions:

Cookies Toolkit 3.1.2
DataAssist 2.0.6
Digital File Pro 1.1.3
Dynamic Dropdowns 2.7.4
Dynamic Flash Charts 1.9.2
eCart 4.5.2
Eric Meyer's CSS Sculptor 1.1.5
PayPal eCommerce Toolkit 4.5.3
PayPal eCommerce Toolkit Recipes 1.0.0
Pro Maps for Google 1.0.6
SecurityAssist 1.1.8
SiteAssist 3.2.3
Universal Email 3.0.7
Validation Toolkit 2.3.5
Validation Toolkit Recipes 1.2.0

I had to install one at a time, then invoke and close down DW/CS4, and then delete the *.dat cache file. What an absolute pain, but finally accomplished. I highly recommend that someone create an easier installer and that an updater (like Adobe) be added to the Super Suite as it should probably have been included for such a 'chunk of change'.

One fatal problem: PhotoAssist 1.1.0 crashes Dreamweaver/CS4, so I removed it, deleted the DW cache, and then was able to restart DW successfully. A second and third re-install also caused invocation crashes. That is definitely broken. I cannot use it. Please advise....

Also, the Site Import 2 extension unzips as WS_SiteImport212.mxp.html, which, thus, cannot be installed since it is not an extension for some reason. Please advise....

So, those resolutions aside, how will I handle the installation of Power Store 2, which seems to include versions of extensions in it? Do I say "no" to all of its installs of tools I already have installed unless they are tools I did not already install (except of course Database Search which was superseded by DataAssist 2)? Please advise....

Also, I am going to use this locally before sending it up to our CentOS VPS and Apache server. What do you recommend for a setup much like DW allows so that the ongoing development gets uploaded to the actual server location? Please advise....

We are going to be switching servers very soon as well, so how do we transfer our work? Please advise....

I appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Chris Gray

Photo Assist is a discontinued product. It was discontinued before the release of Dreamweaver CS4, as such it was never updated to be compatible with Dreamweaver CS4, it cannot be used in that environment.

I just tried downloading Site Import 2 and did not have a problem. You mention that it "unzips as WS_SiteImport212.mxp.html", you should not need to unzip it. Once downloaded to your computer, the file name should be "WS_SiteImport212.mxp". When downloading are you selecting the option to save the file to your computer? We have recently released a video that shows the proper steps for downloading an extension here:

perhaps this may help.

Power Store is not an extesnion, you do not6 install it using the extesnion manager. It is a collection of PHP pages that you just extract to your site, then run in a browser. Please see the PowerStore Getting started guide for installation instructions:

When setting up your site, Dreamweaver has a Testing Server tab, and a Remote tab. Set up the remote tab to connect to your remote site so you can use Dreamweaver to sync your remote site files in the same way you sync the local testing server site files.

When you switch the servers, you will need to reconfigure the remote tab in the site settings to connect to the new server. you will likely have to modify your database connections as well.
