Does not show up in Firefox

I am having a issue with the background not showing in Firefox. I have broken it down to just the bare minimum thinking other code might be interfering with the background not loading. Here is the code:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
<title>IPM Lithographics Inc - Printing, Posters, Direct Mail, Web Design</title>

<style type="text/css" media="all">
#homePage {
background-image: url('plugins/site_images/home_background.jpg');
background-repeat: repeat-x;
}
</style>

</head>

<body id="homePage" onload="@@(Body_onLoad)@@">
<body>
</body>
</html>

It loads OK in Safari but not Fire Fox. I have also tried it out in Internet Explorer (older version) and it did not load their as well. Any ideas?

Does it need to be an onload event?

Otherwise, just using the standard body css property should do it:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
<title>IPM Lithographics Inc - Printing, Posters, Direct Mail, Web Design</title>
<style type="text/css">
<!--
body {
background-color: #666;
background-image: url(site_images/home_background.jpg);
background-repeat: repeat-x;
}
</style>
</head>

<body>
</body>

</html>

ou also seem to have an extra body tag.

Thanks for the input.

I made changes as suggested and it did not solve the issue. I also copied the code you provided and it still did not work.

I pulled the CSS #home information from the linked file template.css. As I said, I paired down the information to see if I can get just this code to load the background. I did add the @@(Body_onLoad)@@ to see if that would help prior to posting this message. The original generated by Webassist came with empty quotes "".

Any other suggestions?

All I can suggest is to check that you have the correct paths to your image file. The code I posted above - if I recreate your structure and image filename - works correctly.

bg_image/

If you could put your page online, we could have a look at it to try to trace the problem.

Is this a SiteAssist/CSS Sculptor page? I'm not sure I understand what empty quotes you are referring to. Perhaps you could zip your page (and associated css file) too?

Here is a link to the file which has the code as I have shown.

index1.php

Your link worked just fine in Fire Fox, the background shows up. When running my code the background does not show up. I know the link to the background image is fine as it shows up in safari, just not Fire Fox.

This was built using Site Assist. I was putting the site up when I decided to check it in other browsers and their were several minor fixes borders mainly. The one I am stumped on is the background not showing up. If you click on one of the tabs from the link below you can see the background shows up on the sub pages just not the index page. At least it is this way on my Fire Fox.

index.php

This was an odd one; the actual image file itself seems to be damaged. None of my graphics apps was able to open or display it, all reported that the file was damaged. I had one small app that could display a preview that I was able to screen-grab and replicate.

Try replacing your existing file with the attached, and see how you get on.

It may be unrelated, but I think this was your problem.

Thank you. Problem solved. The file you sent worked. Very strange indeed, I can open my file up just fine in photoshop, this is why I had no reason to believe it was the file.

Thanks again.

Dennis.
