Do users need to create primary and foreign

Do users need to create primary and foreign

SO glad you folks put this out! This has been the missing link for me for YEARS of owning eCart.

Do you suggest we setup PK-to-FK relationships in this database or leave everything alone as it is?

Like this...

ALTER TABLE orderdetails ADD
CONSTRAINT ordersorderdetails
FOREIGN KEY (DetailOrderID_fk)
REFERENCES orders (OrderID)
ON UPDATE CASCADE ON DELETE CASCADE

I'm sure the code isn't 100% perfect but you see what I'm getting at. Do you suggest we setup these relations in our databases or will things work with unjoined tables?

Thanks!

No, you do not *need* to create the relationships in the database.

The only real benefit to defining the relationships in the database is to force referential integrity.

Excellent, didn't think so but've never used PK/FKs before so wanted to make sure. Thanks Jason.
