Universal not always sending emails

Universal not always sending emails

I'm using Universal Email with eCart to email the order summary or confirmation. For the second time the email was never sent for an order we received on the website.

It almost seems like when we receive more than 1 order a day (or in a short period of time), the 2nd order fails to be emailed.

Any issues with and/or what should I look into?

I know it works because we receive 95% of the emails. Is it a cross-browser issue, a server issue?

This would be a problem with the smtp server.

There may be a limit on the smtp server on the number of concurrent connections, or it could be a domain the server does not like to relay to.

Check in the SMTP server error logs, there m,ay be a clue in there as to what the issue is.

well, I checked the SMTP Server (which by the way I'm on a shared server) and everything looks fine. I confirmed again today that if we get more than 1 order on the same day, Universal Email will only email the order summary of the 1 1st order.

It's weird, because our contact oage, we use CDONTS to send email results, which will email everytime, regardless of how many a day we get.

With Universal Email, we use CDOSYS instead and works for the first order only, not the others...

I wonder if it has to do with CDOSYS!

Any idea?

It could have to do with using CDOSYS, try changing it to use CDONTS instead.

Did you look at the SMTP server logs to see if there is any information there? That may give a clue to the problem.

I noticed that in my CDOSYS settings, I have mailhub.registeredsite.com as my SMTP Server. However, in my Outlook settings for emails, it uses a different smtp server name that includes our Domain Name (i.e. smtp.mydomain.com)...

Should the SMTP Server in Universal Email be the same as our Outlook?

Remember, we use a hosting company and are currently on a shared server...

That is not a simple yes or no question.

You *may* be able to use the same smtp server as is listed in your outlook.

This is a question that is best answered by your host, they will be able to tell you which SMTP server to use when sending mail through a web script.

I did ask them and they confirmed to use the same smtp for CDOSYS...I will give that a try!

Thanks.
