Flat Shipping Rates

I need to be able to charge shipping based on the dollar amount in the cart.

For ex. $0 - $30 Shipping charge is $5.95
$30.01 - $50 Shipping Charge is $7.95
$50.01 - $80 Shipping Charge is $9.95

etc....

Can you point me to documentation or??

Thank you so much!!

You could setup your charge rules like the ones mentioned in this post:

showthread.php?t=5769&highlight=shipping

The difference will be that your trigger will be based on subtotal of the entire cart, or subtotal of the total price column instead. Other than that the rules should be setup like these.

Thank you - I was able to set up the rules easily - but I'm afraid I'm missing something very basic.... I need to add Shipping to the Order Summary, yes? The bottom half of my page with the order summary is missing online now, so I'm assuming that (deluded myself into thinking it would magically appear if I set-up the rules....)

I attached screenshot of one of the rules I set-up (in case) and what the cart now looks like..

Thanks so much!

Since the order summary information is not showing that tells me that there is a problem with one of the values that are being used here. The first thing that should show on this page is the subtotal for the cart. If you are not seeing that then there may be a problem with this value of some sort.

As a test create a new test page and apply the eCart display manager to the page. Make sure you configure it to show the summary at the end. Add an item to the cart then browse to this test page, you should see all of the values after the summary, if not then there is an issue with some of these values. If this is the case you should try disabling charge, discount, shipping, and tax rules temporarily to see if you can get the cart looking ok then. Please post back and let us know the result.

Yes - the problem didn't show up until I added the shipping rules.... if I eliminate them then all is well. I had posted screenshot of an example of what I did when I set it up - In the ecart object panel I set up the rules under the 'shipping' tab - was that correct?

And then was I supposed to include some sort of 'binding' (is that the correct terminology?) to something in the cart/summary? I didn't touch that.

I know I'm doing something wrong that would be very simple for someone who knew what they were doing!

Ah me...

Ah.... I applied the rule to taxable total. Perhaps I should have instead applied it to 'subtotal for entire carts contents'

Was that the issue? Let us know if you are still having problems with this.

That was it - and I needed it to go into the Charges column...

Thx!!!

Thank you for the clarification, I'm sure this will help others who are trying to accomplish the same thing.
