Step by Step

Hello, i am trying to interact with a few of the extensions toguether, as mentioned above.
What i am doing and in the order i am doing it is my question.

First i have DataAssist create all the pages, inser, edit, detail, delete, etc.
Up to this point, my forms all work, they insert, edit, delete data from my DataBase.
Perfect!
Second, since i want to have to datepicker, I got to Insert > WebAssist > CSS Form Builder, and I create the form with all validations ,a file field and a Datepicker.

I upload the files to the site, but now, my form does not insert the data anymore.

I read the Modifying Custom Form (mentioned before on the forum)
modifying_custom_form.pdf

It seems my error is i am not reconnecting the form to the insert behavior, as I read this last note on the tutorial:

"Note: If the contents of this form are to be inserted into a database, any new fields that you have added will need to have the Insert behavior attached to those new fields."

But there is no explanation (on this PDF) about this, i tried to do it myself but probably linked things up wrong, since it didnt work.

Could anybody point me in the right direction for acomplishing the Datassist pages creation, and implementing the CSS Form features?

As a final request, after i have my form built, i would like to use fileassist pro to upload my imagem file, but since i havent gotten that far, i submit to you my forum friends for any ideas.
I am new to webassist, so bare with me, thank you so much.

I moved your post over to the CSS Form Builder forum as a new thread so that it would not be as confusing when replying.

If you have updated the insert page with a new form and are just not getting the insert to occur anymore you will probably just need to update the insert server behavior to work with these new form fields.

To do this you just need to double click on the insert server behavior that is in the server behaviors tab. On here go to the next screen where you associate the values with the columns in the table. Just select a column, then for the value use the lightning bolt icon to select the corresponding form field from your newly modified form.

This is all that is needed, once the columns have been associated with the new fields in the form it should work like it used to.

Great!

Hey! Fantastic, it worked!

However my "file" field displays a few options, in which i selected "file name", that didnt work, so i selected "simple file name", and that didnt work as well.
I havent yet setupo fileupload on Digital File Pro though, so im not sure if i should use DFP to get the imagem file title for the DataBase.

Also, my date in the DB is coming out 00.00.00 00:00:00

Any advise on this?
Thank you.

For the file field you should apply the Upload server behavior first. Once you have got that in place you will be able to use the bindings from that server behavior for an of the file attributes, like server file name.

As for the date field what is the data type in your db for this field? Do you have an example of what you are inputting for this field on the form?

Great! It worked perfectly!
Now I understand.
1- I create the pages with Data Assist
2- Did the "How to apply Digital File Pro to DataAssist Insert and Update pages (PDF)"
3- Now will attempt to insert CSS Form Builder.
Thanks so much for your help!

Ill let you know shortly the outcome =)

Not so good now =(
After I insert the CSS Form Builder, the file upload stops working.
Not even the file name gets printed to the DataBase.

Any ideias?
Thanks

Bingo

I found my mistake (i think)
1st I have created the pages with Data Assist
2nd I have put the CSS form builder in action, found the problem with my date field, its written here in the forum about date options in design options.
3- i did the FileUpload , replacing the file field and inserting a new one.
Now all works fine.

To make it more interesting, i inserted the iRite, and all extensions are now working all toguether.

Please let me know if there is a better way, or if what i did was just luck, and thers a other way of intereacting all these elements.

Thanks so much!

I think you did the correct things. Once you have applied Form Builder to an existing form you will need to update the bindings of the form so that they are like before you added in the form. Also if you have any different field names you will need to edit the server behaviors on the page to update the bindings to point the values to the new form elements that you have.

Is it just me?

Is it just me that going through the CSS Form Builder to add a datepicker to dataAssist forms is re-creating the wheel? It would be far simpler to build every admin form from scratch with the CSS Form builder - however, most web developers have very little time to spend fussing over that. I bought WebAssist for that very reason, to not have to spend time fussing over that. Even better of course is to have a datepicker that can be added directly.
