Settting Default Zoom on Google maps

I have recently downloaded this extension. Currently when publishing the map it the default zoom is too detailed, and I am trying to see if I can set the default zoom to be reduced to show a nearby city and motorway as the norm.

Does anyone know how I acn reset the default zoom?

Is this tutorial still valid?
It doesn't work on 1.0.5. Any idea how to fix it?

Yes, it is still valid. I just tested this method on one of my maps and it does work.

Please post a link to your page so I can take a look at what is wrong. to determine why it is not working for you.

Hello Jason, following the instructions with the PDF documentation, it does not work.

  11. Paste the same line of code for the other two results that are displayed in the Search results panel.

According to the PDF document we'll find 3 times the string "map.addOverlay".

Reading your message, saying that it is working, I tried again and I found 4 times the string "map.addOverlay" on my php file...

So now I can say it is working :D

Maybe the PDF documentation should be updated.

Thank you.

It should say:

  11. Paste the same line of code for all of the results that are displayed in the Search results panel.

Hi
I had the same question. Thanks for the answer. However, the pdf document does need updating. I have 1.0.5 which I understand to be the current version.

Step 3 of the referred pdf file states:
Locate the line of code that reads something like this:
<script type="text/javascript" src="google_javascript/wagmp_map_.js">/*wagmp*/
</script>

On my PHP page I have the following:
<script type="text/javascript">
/*wagmp*/
<?php include("google_javascript/wagmp_map_1.php"); ?>
</script>

A little confusing to begin with but once over that hurdle, the rest was fine.

Yes, on a static page, the map javascript file will be a static .js file. For a dynamic page, it will need to be a dynamic php file.

Excellent FAQ.

I added the code snippet map.setZoom(N); and zoom starts correctly but then zooms out to zero (full zoom out) once the full data set loads.

Anyone have any thoughts? One thought is that an address in the database may be incorrect with regard to zip code or city. Otherwise, all the addresses are in the state of Colorado so it shouldn't zoom out to all of North America.
