Why does my map show Palo Alto as the default location?

On occasion, Google’s geo-coding service cannot properly locate an address, and in such cases, this default location is displayed. In order to accommodate for this, enter a location’s latitude and longitude coordinates in stead of a street address. To find the latitude and longitude coordinates of an address, follow these steps.

  1. In your browser, navigate to http://maps.google.com and search for your address.
  2. When the address is displayed, enter the following javascript code in the browser’s address bar and press Enter:

    javascript:void(prompt('',gApplication.getMap().getCenter()));
    This will present an info window containing the latitude and longitude coordinates.

Why is the Show Multiple option not available?

The Show Multiple checkbox will only be available if you are using a Recordset to retrieve an address. Selecting the Show Multiple option will cause Pro Maps to loop through the selected Recordset to create a map point for each address.

My map shows up as a gray window when entering driving directions.

My map cannot find a specific address, what can I do?

The Google Maps API, used by Pro Maps for Google, uses different resources than maps.google.com and may not return the same results, especially for non-US locations. If you don't get the results you expect, here are a few strategies to try:

  1. If the Google default map is displayed, try omitting the postal code from your addresses.
  2. If the Google map shows the wrong address, try entering just the postal code and country, without the street address.

Why is my map is not displaying properly?

On rare occasions, your map may load incorrectly in your browser.  This usually occurs when a map is displaying more than 10 different locations at a time.  To avoid this, make sure you have read/write privileges on the _promaps_cache directory. This directory stores the XML file that is created when you first view your map.

My map takes a long time to load my markers.

If you are finding that your map loads slower than expected, you may need to configure read/write privileges on the _promaps_cache directory. This directory stores the XML file that is created when you first view your map.  All map locations will then be read from the XML file to display faster in a browser.
