Installing WA extension replaces previous WA extention files

Thread began 9/26/2009 9:08 am by web73002 | Last modified 9/26/2009 10:23 am by office172461 | 1494 views | 1 replies |

Installing WA extension replaces previous WA extention files

I was not sure where to put my question since it deals with all WA extensions. Nearly every time I install a WA extension I am asked if I want to replace older/newer/same versions of files installed with previous WA extensions.

My assumption has always been to say yes to replacing older files and no to replacing newer/same files. Is this a correct assumption? Should I expect errors later becauase of this? Are there any caveats I should know about?

I have been using "Replace all" for all of the recent updates and have not had any problems. I used to go through manually and found that the files in question were just support images and things that were not really different but had a different creation date.

Make sure that DW is not running, uninstall the extension first (saves a lot of time), say yes to overwriting all, and be patient while Extension Manager does it's thing.

I could never understand why Adobe didn't include a "Overwrite all older files" option.
