Adding Search field to MySqli search?

Adding Search field to MySqli search?

Okay, so the default search parameters for the site are to search product name, product meta description and wholesale price.

The problem is that the meta field is often empty. I'd rather have it search ProductLongDesc. However when I replaced the Product Meta field names to ProductLongDesc in this code:
<input id="ProductMetaKeywords" name="ProductMetaKeywords" type="text" value="<?php echo((isset($_GET["ProductMetaKeywords"])?$_GET["ProductMetaKeywords"]:"")); ?>" class="formTextfield_Medium" tabindex="2" title="Please enter a value.">

It ended up finding all items not just the ones with the keywords in that field.

How do i go about getting a better search result? I started to add a dynamic area but was warned to create a new server behavior. I don't want to screw up the relationship with the product results pages, so I am being cautious.

The form element name on the search page shouldn't have been changed. The change should have been made on the Results page where the form element is compared to a database column. The search form wouldn't have to be updated at all.

I undid my edits and left as is. However, the keyword search field is searching an empty column of info for keywords. I need it to search the ProductLongDesc field It is currently searching in meta column which is empty... does that make sense?

The 3 fields on the search page are Product Name, Keywords (searching Product Meta description) and Wholesale price ...

If you attach the results page I can show you what line needs to be updated.

On line 42 you can change the column name here: array("ProductMetaKeywords") to array("ProductLongDesc")

Okay, that is not quite the fix. What it does is display every product in the catalog in order of the ID number. I don't think that the search is discriminating at all when I put a keyword in the keyword field

Please attach the current search and results page so I can look for errors.

The line should be:
$searchWADAproducts_WADbSearch1->setSearch(array("type"=>"Edit", "comparison"=>"includes", "join"=>"AND"), array("ProductLongDesc"), "s", "ProductMetaKeywords");

Since you didn't update the form field name in the search page, it wouldn't be updated here.
