Dynamic dropdown real time

Hi Ray,

I want to have a dropdown of venues or locations on an insert page. If a venue is not listed then it could be added and the dropdown would be updated without refreshing the page.

So I could have the venue add page be a separate tab open in the browser but you would go back to the original tab and the dropdown would reflect the newly added venue without refreshing the page. Is that possible?

Thx
Eric

Anything is possible. In this case you would probably be able to use AJAX and load the dynamic select list based on the insert new venue button press event. Follow the tutorial on "Dynamic Dropdowns with Databridge 2.0" for the basic concepts needed to accomplish this result.

Just to make sure I understand...

If I have just one select list then when it is clicked on it will be updated without a page refresh and losing the data that was already entered in the other fields before the record was actually inserted into the database. Is that correct?

thanks
Eric

Yes. That is what happens in the tutorial and what would happen in your scenario.

Thanks Ray.

I got the page setup but I have an issue with the event. onfocus shows the updated list but the dropdown will not allow you to make a selection.

thx

Since you are leaving the page to do the insert, I moved the code to the onfocus of the body instead of the onfocus of the select list. Re-writing the select list as you focus into it was causing issues.

I also added code to the plugins to make sure the previously selected value stays selected.
