Database not appearing in database panel

I have created pages using the datassist tool.
I defined a database in the tool.

All pages create ok, however whilst the connection page appears in the connection folder, it does not appear in the database panel.
This also crashes the results page when I execute a search;

Warning: strpos(): Empty needle in /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/web/Kb4/Connections/nihCONN3.php on line 15

Warning: require_once(../Connections/.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/web/Kb4/apps/TACdb1_results.php on line 2

Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required '../Connections/.php' (include_path='.:/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/lib/php') in /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/web/Kb4/apps/TACdb1_results.php on line 2

Any thoughts please?

It looks like you have an unnamed connection? It is looking for a connection named:
Connections/.php

Maybe you didn't have a connection selected when you ran the wizard somehow?

So, if I create a DB connection using the WA Database panel, ie clicking the '+' to open the database connection type wizard - it opens fine.
I enter all parameters and pick my database in localhost.

When I ok it, nothing appears in the WA Database panel!

Only the connection folder.

Refreshing the panel has no effect.

The connection is visible and a selectable option when I run the DA wizard.

As you can see I've made a few attempts now!

I can do screen sharing with you to look into it. If you export your site definition I might be able to download your connections and reproduce it that way. I think the easiest path to a solution is to send me your phone number and we can do screen sharing to investigate what might be causing the problem.

Thanks Ray. However I've managed to unpick all but one remaining issue which is still being thrown on the results and selected item update page.

Warning: strpos(): Empty needle in /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/web/Kb4/Connections/nihCONN3.php on line 15

The routine which commences line 15 is as follows;

if (strpos(strtolower($_SERVER["SERVER_NAME"]),strtolower($domainCheck)) !== false && ($domainCheck == "" || strpos(strtolower($_SERVER["SERVER_NAME"]),strtolower($domainCheck)) == strlen($_SERVER["SERVER_NAME"])-strlen($domainCheck))) {
$hostname_nihCONN3 = "192.168.100.3";
$database_nihCONN3 = "****";
$username_nihCONN3 = "****";
$password_nihCONN3 = "****";
$foundConnection = true;
}

Im ftp 'ing the live site to my nas IP.

It looks like $_SERVER["SERVER_NAME"] is not defined on your server. Which is odd. It implies a server configuration issue of some sort. Are you using a dynamic connection, or do you test on your live server? That code is used to identify the server the code is running on and change the connection based on the server name. You could try setting the value programmatically or deleting that IF statement to get around the issue, or talk to your hosting provider to see if they can update the server so that it is properly defined.

I'm using a connection to localhost on my machine and a second dynamic pointing to the server and phpmyadmin on my nas

I've just noticed that all Connections I've created are listed in the WA Database panel, but the filenames are (invisible) transparent or same color as background.

If I hover over where the list would appear, the mouse pointer changes allowing me to select them.

This is not expected behaviour.

I'm going to try a reinstall of everything.

That is probably an issue with our panel when a specific color scheme is used in Dreamweaver. I'll play with it and see if I can figure it out. I probably have to update it to override the color scheme settings in Dreamweaver so it will always look right.

I wouldn't reinstall... just update your color scheme. Go to Edit->Preferences and choose "Interface" in the left-hand column. Then choose a dark theme and I think that will fix the issue.

Actually I can't seem to find a theme that updates the color of that text. I'm not sure what might control it. Let me know if you figure it out. If I can reproduce it then I can fix it.

Ok, so yeah, non of the default coloraturas schemes have an impact.
What I did notice is that if I remove the DB panel then add it again by dragging to an edge so that it fills top to bottom, as opposed to the smaller panel in the side bar, if I then slowly remove it from its 'snapped' position the background color changes briefly from its default white to a dark blue background, thus revealing the listed db connections. Unfortunately and unexpectedly during that brief manouevre the background color returns to white again and the db connections become 'invisible' again.

If the panel background can be stabilised to a darker color or the db connection icons can be darkened, we are back in business.

I can work with you on this in a screen sharing session. I'm unable to reproduce it on my end, but if you give me your phone number and a good time to reach you then I can call and work on it with you directly to find a good solution.
