Form Fields Not Appearing On Binding To Form Update

Form Fields Not Appearing On Binding To Form Update

I have a repeat form that uses javascript to count the characters of two form fields. In order for the javascript to work the form field names have to be different. I'm using a repeat of the recordset to create all the forms in the database for that recordset's values.

In order for the form fields to show up with the appropriate record character count I echoed the record ID to the end of the form field's name to make each field name unique.

The javascript works, but when I try to column bind tthe form fields to update them they don't show up when I try to bind the values.

Any idea on how to bind these. I tried to use another javascript to mirror the content to another form field and it causes my character count script to stop working.

I've uploaded my file. Thanks.

It looks like you are trying to do a multiple update. To do that you would either have to hand code your update and wrap it in a loop manually.

The easier way to do this is to remove the php code in the form element names that you have added manually. Then apply the Multiple Update server behavior. That will automatically rename your form elements to work with that server behavior.

Okay I tried that and it didn't work.

1. My character count Javascript doesn't work now, the Javascript requires the field name to be different for each iteration of the form field.
2. I get an error message when I'm trying to apply the Server Behavior. I've attached a screen shot and the latest file.
3. When I submit the form it redirects back to the page, but the screen is white until I refresh.

You can see the form in action here: http://focusonmybusiness.com/admin/manage_pages_seo.php

You'll see that the first iteration of the Keywords and Description have the character counters, but the rest do not.

Well then you probably need to go back to the original code and then create your own loop around the update code and hand edit the update values to work. I can help with this in a premier support ticket.

Thanks for the help. I figured it out.

I changed the javascript to use an ID based on an onkeyup value and sent the character count value to a div with an ID matching the onkeyup value.
That way the binding to the textarea worked fine.

I'm not much of a javascript coder, but with a little study of the code I was utilizing it allowed me to figure out.
