Universal email

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced form submissions, via universal email, stop working all of a sudden. I have had a couple of clients that were receiving form submission via their website and then out of no where they stopped coming through. They are also reporting that the customers filling out the form are receiving errors. I have thought that this was user error in the past however, it seems that this is happening more often than a few here and there. Any direction would be great. I put my email address in the bcc for testing purposes and it seems to be coming through just fine to me.

If there are errors then you would want to try to get the error message to help figure out the cause.

Emails can stop coming through because of SPAM rules. I'd suggest using something like https://www.mail-tester.com/ to identify the SPAM score and how to improve it.

You should also always use a FROM address that has the same domain and is a valid email account on the server that sends the email.

Thanks Ray, it looks like in this case, 1 & 1 hosting somehow changed their email routing but didn't tell the customer so everything stopped coming to him. We have now moved the hosting to GoDaddy (potentially still propagating). Can you take a peek at the files attached to make sure that the universal email is set up correctly? I have tested the "contact" form and the "join our crew" form. The "join our crew" is submitting to me (I'm on a bcc), although I haven't gotten comfirmation from my client that it has submitted to him. The "contact" form hasn't come through to me yet which I submitted about 30 minutes ago. Just want to make sure we're doing everything correct on our end.

It looks correct to me. I'd need FTP access and a URL for live testing to debug more if it doesn't work.

I'd suggest using DataBridge V2 to update your email code. The new update has a much improved email library that could improve your experience and results.

Thanks Ray! Again, appreciate the help! We actually got it working. It ended up being the email routing that was causing the issue. How much is the update for DataBridge, we probably need to do that!

DataBridge v2 is $399, but you get $100 off if you own the previous version or Super Suite, and you get $100 off if you have MySQLi Server Behaviors. So your purchase price depends on your order history. If you log in and visit the DataBridge v2 page, then it will show you your discounted upgrade price.

There really can't be anything wrong with the code on the php page if it is going to the CC and BCC recipients. The issue is with either the sending or receiving SMTP server. If your local server on GoDaddy has that domain set up and it thinks that it is in charge of the emails that go to that domain, then it might not be sending out the email to the recipient. But this is a server configuration problem. Do you have CPanel access on GoDaddy?

This is probably something you will want to ask with GoDaddy support. They may be able to help you check the SMTP error log and figure out where it is failing.

One of the new features in DataBridge V2 is to use authenticated email and send from an external server. So you could send the emails from the 1and1 server directly with an emial account you set up and username and password and it will send just like it does when you use outlook.

Thanks Ray! I do have access to the Cpanel at GoDaddy and I will connect with them to check on everything. Thanks again for your help!

See if your CPanel has a mail section and turn of email on the godaddy server. That might allow it to skip the validation on the hosted server so that it can send to the 1and1 email server like it is supposed to.
