Changing host servers - can't get PowerCMS to install

I'm changing hosting for my websites. I downloaded latest Power CMS files and uploaded to my new server at GoDaddy.
Every time I try to run the installation wizard I get an error. I've been able to put in the database credentials but then I get an error page at this page.
http://townfriendship.com/CMS/install_cms/database.php
With a 500 error.

Does this make any sense?
Thank you.

Are you sure you have the latest files? It looks like an issue we have addressed.

If you give me FTP access I can take a look and make sure you have the latest version of that page.

Now that you mention it, I bet I grabbed the wrong ones. I downloaded Power CMS2 v. 2.1.1 - 10/2011.
Should I have downloaded Power CMS Builder dated Aug. 2012?

Thank you.

You should be using the one from Design Extender that was updated in 2016

Downloaded Design extender and installed extension. Trying to add to web page. I'm asked to setup the database and I get an error. attached.

No files on the server yet.

What the heck am I missing?
Thank you.

This is usually an issue with the testing server defined in your dreamweaver site. Probably the Server URL setting.

Make sure your server isn't using php7. PowerCMS will only work on servers running php6 or below.

I'm still having trouble. Now that I know the PHP version on the server was the issue I could use the old CMS.
Is there a reason I shouldn't use the old version? Are there security issues?

And is there an easier way to transfer from one host to another? Do you have some sort of tool or shortcut?
Thank you.

The old version of power cms won't work on php7 either. You can ftp over the files and database and update the connection information manually to move from one server to another just like you would any other website.
