Save for Later functionality

I am planning a modified PowerStore, but due to the number of options per product I need the ability to save part complete orders, which can be revisited by customers at a later date. Is this possible ?

This is not something that is a built in feature but it sounds like something that can be added possible with the use of eCart's store order summary and details server behavior or even DataAssist's insert server behavior.

To get some more specific advice on how to go about with this please post back and detail exactly how you would like it to work from the perspective of the user and you the admin on the back end.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Have a look at ps_test from "Products' select 'Build your Own'. You will see a number of options before the Add to Cart button. In essence I'd like a "Save for Later" button so that the customer can save their choices prior to going into the check out phase.

I have all the necessary WA tools to complete the job, just need a nudge in the right direction.

Thanks

Stuart

That is not too complex, this is something that you can handle with DataAssist.

The idea is that you would need to first have a table in your db to hold the configured items. Along with the columns that you have for the cart this table will also need to have some reference to the user, you can just have a userID column for this.

Once your table has the columns to hold all of the items details and the userID you can add in the insert server behavior. You can have a button for 'save for later' like you have described. You then just insert the DataAssist insert server behavior to get this record into your db. You would just bind the value for the columns of your table with the posted values from the add to cart form just like your add to cart server behavior.

If you have any other requirements or ideas for this let us know and we will be glad to help you get it worked out.
