coupon to discount shipping

is it possible to use a coupon to discount shipping when using flat rate shipping? Any other ideas?

Here is the scenario:
This is good:
buy 1 tshirt of design "A" = $10 shipping
buy 2 tshirts of same design = $10 shipping for first, and + $3 for second

problem:

buy 1 tshirt of design "A" = $10 shipping
buy 1 tshirt of design "B" = $10 shipping
(shipping is too much = $20 )

Another problem:
buy 1 tshirt of design "A" size "med" = $10 shipping
buy 1 tshirt of design "A" size "large" = $10 shipping
should be $13 not $20 based on "good" set up from above

We could help you with adding that in a premier support ticket.

I think we could add the incremental shipping feature in a 1 hour session. We would just have to:
1) add a column to the database to store the value
2) update the products update page to save it (optionally add it to the product insert page but could leave it only available on the update).
3) update the cart object to have a column for it
4) update the shipping charge to use it when it is available

The other issue sounds like a bug. We would investigate and fix that free of charge... it might make sense to do during the premier ticket if you go that route.

Oh wait I was reading this wrong.... We already added incremental shipping, you just want separate items to not charge it.

I'll need to discuss how this might work with you. We may be able to do it free of charge, since it may be a small logic update and not require additional database fields or updating any product insert or update pages or even the cart.

yes, the incremental shipping works great!!

The challenge is: the full shipping rate ($10) is getting added to each shirt of the same design, but when a different size of the shirt is also added to cart - when that too should be covered under the "incremental" cost of the $3 - not the full rate of $10 each for the same shirt in 2 different sizes. Maybe i am asking too much

We could probably add logic to add only the highest base shipping rate of all of the items in the cart, then add incremental shipping rates for all other items. Would that fit your needs?

I think that would work well - it would solve several problems with shipping and get something much more appealing to a consumer. Thanks Ray!!!!

I've added that logic... I updated the file: WA_eCart/Short_Cart_PHP.php

Please test and let me know if you find any problems.

seems to be perfect so far Ray!! certainly does make shipping of dis-simular items reasonable when using flat shipping rules

Thanks!!
