Allowing an Order for a Set Number of items

Allowing an Order for a Set Number of items

Am using eCart4.5.0, and ASP-VB.

My client wants to limit the sale of golf clubs (4 Iron, 5 Iron, etc.) to 6 or more clubs.

I would like to do this on the order page, rather than going to the cart page. Simple is better.

Thanks

Not sure what you mean

...'I would like to do this on the order page, rather than going to the cart page'.

Are you looking for a minimum order quantity of 6 ?

You could test for this on the cart page, and bring up a message accordingly or disable the checkout button until the criteria has been fulfilled

Okay. As long as it does not interfere with other products.

There are just two sets of clubs that have a minimum order of six. All the rest of the products, there is no order minimum.

Thanks for the quick response.

i see what you mean now.

just a thought, for these 2 items, how about having a check box for each club size and enabling the add to cart button only when 6 items are checked ?

If you are looking only to verify that 6 or more were selected in the quantity on the add to cart page you add in a server side validation to check the value of this field using the number validation.

Two sets of clubs (and only two) have a minimum of six that they must purchase. The other clubs have no minimum.
Would the server side validation be simpler?
Would I be using the validation toolkit for this validation? If so, would it block the sales until at least six are selected?

You can implement this validation with the validation toolkit. It would just be a server side validation that is applied for the quantity field for these items.

Along with this you should also make it so the quantity field is not updatable in the cart. If you want to retain the updatable quantity field for the other items you can create a calculation that sets the quantity to 6 automatically if a lesser quantity is set.
