Contact form on testing server sends cc: to sender but not to us.

Contact form on testing server sends cc: to sender but not to us.

Been using the contactus.php page on our site for ages without fail. Now I'm testing it on a test server where my website will be migrated to and the form is not working properly.

CAPTCHA works, security question works, I get the Thank You page on submission and I get a cc: to the address I used to test the form. BUT the address where the form is directed to never receives the submission. Tested from several machines, OSes, even phones and tablets with the same result.

Confused as to how the submission works well enough to send the cc: back to the sender but not the original form to its intended target. (I've changed nothing from the presentsite – which still works fine – and the new testing server, and we've checked spam folders just to make sure the form email isn't getting derailed; it isn't.)

Note: Files are from the original Contact Form Solution Pack, just FYI.

This would be the SMTP server refusing to relay to that address for some reason.

you would need to contact the host to determine why the SMTP server is not relaying the message to the address used.

Thanks, Jason. I'll check with them and let you know what happens.

Thinking about it, I wondered if maybe it could somehow relate to the fact that the email is being submitted to an email address I haven't yet set up on the migrated site. But then again, cc:s have come to other addresses at our domain, so that alone can't be it.

the solution pack compiles the email then passes it to the SMTP server.

it is up to the SMTP server to then look at each address it needs to send the message to, then relay the email.

Since it is sending to some addresses, it is being compiled and passed to the SMTP server.

It is the SMTP server that is failing to perform the relay for that particular address.

you need to work with the host to determine why the SMTP server is not preforming the relay for that address.

The SMTP issue has been resolved. It was, indeed, caused by the server looking for an email address not yet served by the new host.

To test this, I changed the destination address to my gmail and it worked fine, so I have no reason to think the original address won't work just fine once the site migration is complete.
