Saving changes to auto-generated DataAssist pages

Saving changes to auto-generated DataAssist pages

Hallelujah, when DataAssist builds out those backend admin pages. So much appreciated - thanks.

Like others, I need to save - progressively - manual changes to those pages. Of course a lot of work goes in, ultimately, to the manual page changes. But it is also necessary to add to the database, and so progressively also to run DataAssist, again.

When DataAssist runs again, default behavior of course is to delete the existing pages. Hence, thereby doing in the manual changes, necessitating to start all over on the customization. Each time. Arrrgh ...

Are there any tools for both re-running DataAssist and saving / building on the manual changes?

For instance, can the opportunity to "save" the preset be triggered to run after the manual changes, but before anything is done in DataAssist, to save the manual changes into the preset? But, would the preset capture those changes?

Is there some other approach?

I know DW templates well. Have pondered creating a progressively updated template, with the manual changes progressively locked down. With each new auto-generated set of pages to have templates applied, subsequently, with the most recent, up to date templates. But that is a plethora of many locked-down bits, and templates. Messy, awkward. Nor is it possible to capture all the bits of customization in a template lock-down.

I have read through a number of the suggested threads, but not found this. In the end, I think it may be a big one. Thanks as always for the direction.

what sort of manual changes are you referring to?

In my case, changes to the text presented on the page (such as adding after Insert, "An element of [the client's material]"), the addition of a page header with a corporate logo in the form of an img, so some HTML. All of which I did, then lost of course when I modified via DataAssist. Likely some styling in my own sheet. I can imagine later modifying some of the scripting, when I get good enough at it …

Ok, so content that os on the page outside of the Data Bridge functionality.

What i recomend is having the wizard create the pages in a sub directory for example;
plugins/admin/products/results.php
plugins/admin/products/search.php
plugins/admin/products/details.php

then create pages in the admin directory based on your template:
admin/products_search.php
admin/products_results.php
admin/products_details.php

on the template based pages, add the plugin pages using Framework builder plugins.

so on the admin/products_search.php page, go to WebAssist -> Framework Builder -> Plugins -> static plugin, and add the plugins/admin/products/search.php page.

this adds the data assist functionality to the page dynamically at run time, thus separating the design. So ifthe plugin pages need to be regenerated, it doesn't effect the design on the page.

Thanks so much.

Will take me a little to digest this. Perhaps back, when in hand.

Let me take a moment to say, "Thanks."

The guidance here, for structuring and effecting the include, and the guidance in the thread on using lookup tables, came together and put the pieces together, to enable a very nice part of the app.

There will surely be more questions and learning. But let me take the opportunity to be on point now: Thanks!
