Order summaries without a database?

Hello,

I'm using eCart to add ecommerce to a Dreamweaver site I'm building.

We only have a few products so have added them as static items. (First time using PHP and eCart.) We will be using and being redirected to Worldpay for payment.

I've just filled in and completed my Checkout Wizard. As I haven't used a database for my products, what choice do we have for managing our orders or getting order details? I ticked the 'we'll manage our own orders' box as I thought the other options would require us to use a databse (I haven't used one before!). Will we still be able to get an email with order summary including address? We will be delivering ourselves so won't be using a shipping provider.

I'm trying to keep things as simple as possible just to get us going, but it obviously has to work for us!

Also, once the Checkout Wizard has been completed, how can I go in and edit it? And how can I customise it for the UK - e.g. change the 'State' dropdown to 'Postcode' on the checkout page and remove all other countries as we only deliver locally.

Thank you!
Vicky

you would need to rely on your account with the payment gateway for managing the orders.

the order information should be available through your account with the payment gateway. the payment gateway will also handle sending the emails.

as for editing, you would need to make modifications to the pages themselves, for example, edit the state drop down list on the checkout page and remove any unwanted options.

Thanks Jason,

So after the customer has clicked the checkout button on the shopping cart, they're redirected to the checkout page where they enter their billing information. Then they click 'checkout' again and are redirected to, in our case, the Worldpay website. Does this mean they have to fill in their billing info twice?

Also, If you need to change the Merchant ID you entered in the Checkout Wizard - can you do this without having to go through the set up process again?

Thanks for your patience with my beginners questions!

yes, that is correct.

to change the merchant ID, edit the confirm page, there will be a hidden form element that passes the information to worldpay.

Thanks Jason, again.

I'm at the point now where I'm about to add card details on the Worldpay website for a test transaction.

But before I do, I just want to check - doing it this way, with no database and me checking the 'we'll handle orders ourselves' box on the Checkout Wizard', I haven't as yet been asked for my delivery address. Will this be covered through Worldpay or is this only available as a field to fill in when managing orders through a database?

I feel like I should be using a database really but I'm going to try learning that next.

Thank you, Vicky

yes, the delivery address will be asked for at world pay.
