Template issue

Template issue

I would like to have the same side bar that is found on the catalog page of my site that has buttons that link to all my categories and sub categories on my home page. I have figured out how to put the side bar on my home page in the index.dwt.php file but the buttons do not work. What do I need to do to make them work and keep the sidebar on the homepage updating with any changes I make within the store like additional categories/subcategories?
ps I have been testing my changes with the powerstore files in the "Purple" template if that makes any difference.

Any help would be appreciated.

this is not a supported modification.

the side menu links use an ajax function call that is not on the index page, you would need to make sure the ajax function is defined on the index page, and make sure that the needed divs for the ajax function also exist.

There is no simple "add this line to this page" solution for this, it requires extensive custom coding. the index page was designed with the intent of the menu being available on it.
