DB Form Builder Issues

Hi,

I am having an issue with the form creation wizard in DB 1.0.7. When attempting to add new 'Lines' or 'Sets' in the wizard most times I am only able to add at the top position, so if I have 8 lines and wish to insert one at position 5 I try to select position 4 and click the Add button which is inactive, I have to go all the way to the 1st line to add a new one and then use the up/down arrow set to move it to the position desired.

Another issue I experienced was with the email funciton, when I attempted to configure the send form in an email portion I was not presented with the 'current working form' option when I selected the lightning bolt icon, this was resolved with a DW restart and cache deletion, but thought you should have all the info I can provide to better respond.

Is this a know issue? I have been pouring over the forums for the past two hours with no luck.

I am running CS4, DB 1.0.7, DE 1.1.0 and eCart 5.0.6, I have deleted the requisite cache file and the install order was EC, DE, DB.

Regards,

Gary

This is as designed when adding lines or sets, you have to add line or set at the top, then use the arrows to move the line to the desired position. This is why the placement arrows where added.

The Dreamweaver control that is used for adding the new options to the DOM does not have a way to target the middle of the tree, it only allows for adding at the top, then moving one place at a time.

Thanks for the info Jason, but that is very disappointing. If ther is no way to repair the issue, perhaps adding a set of left/right arrows would be a good feature for the next release. This would allow us to turn a set into a line when we make a mistake ;).

Work around

Hi All,

Any one who has the issues that I am having adding a new line when and where you want it placed can do the following.

After saving a WA type a preset is created which draws on a simple XML file to create again and again, by locating the XML file associated with the form you are creating you can easily edit the file to place the desired objects where you originally wanted them to appear. In my case the XML files are located here on Windows 7 x64:

<user directory>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\en_US\Configuration\Shared\WebAssist\FormBuilder\FormDefinitions\GroupStructures\<your preset group name>

If this file is edited to the desired structure you can then reproduce the forms at will, of course caution should be taken when editing to ensure no typos are made and the structure is not 'violated' as the form can become useless. I recommend making a copy and working with that prior to commiting the changes to the working file. You can always go back to the original ;)

Sorry in advance if this violates any WA rules but it is very frustrating to me to have to insert a new object at line one then move it down to line 20 where it is needed after the clinet again changes the design of the form.

Regards,

Gary
