Special characters in cart

I need to use the TM (trademark) symbol (and a few others) in the shopping cart, in the description area. Even by going into source code and using & trade ; (I inserted a space to keep it in code mode here), it deletes all content after the symbol.

Is there a global setting that will allow symbols to be used?

Thanks as always.

In case it matters, I have a dedicated server, only my clients. All my other database work allows the symbols, so it is specific to the cart description areas. Probably some global setting for the cart, I'm guessing. It's not related to my version of mysql or php.

Thanks.

I am not able to reproduce this problem.

What version of Power Store are you using?

What Browser are you using?

I.m using Power Store 4.5.3 and Fire Fox in my Test, and cannot reproduce the problem.

PS4
We didn't upgrade to 4.5 because WA had done a lot of custom work and it didn't seem wise.

I've used Safari and Firefox. Here's a movie in FF.

tm.mov

The screen doesn't show me hitting the update button, but that is what causes it to disappear.

Thanks Jason.

I didn't demonstrate it but when there is anything after the symbol all that content disappears also.

For anyone else who may run into this, Ray fixed for me. He noted it was unusual in my particular set up. May help someone else some day.

I corrected the problem by adding this to the bottom of the webassist/globals/globals.php file:

header('Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8');
~~~
Thanks again Ray. As always, a solution can be found.
I had this come up and checked these notes. I also compared the first cart with new one and found that this was extra:
$globalstartdir = getcwd();
chdir(dirname(__FILE__));
require_once("../../admin/common/properties.php");
chdir($globalstartdir);
header('Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8');
?>
Hopefully I won't be breaking anything with this attempt. :-)
