Error in creating Double Opt In Registration System

Hello everyone,

I have gone through the video tutorial three times over to to create the Double Opt In Registration System and found the first time round WA_RandomPassword file was missing and also the emailVerified session was not showing up in the binding panel.

I found a thread that had link to the WA_RandomPassword which I downloaded and added to Security Assist folder in dreamweaver.

I don't know if other related files are missing which would perhaps explain why I am not getting the same result as the video tutorial. Anyway, the registration form created with Security Assist works as I am able to see the registration detail in the database (See randomStrings.jpg).

As expected after registration I was taken to the register-confirm.php page where you are instructed to check your email. I checked my email and there was no email with the verification link sent.

I tried accessing a restricted page requiring verifiedUser level access but had to login with my unverified registration and got an error message (see notverifieduser.jpg). Had I been able to login, I could have clicked on the verification link to resend the email, but that was not possible.

I should add that I am using a testing server.

Please could someone help!!!

Thank you in advance.

I was able to login as Not VerifiedUser (see loggedin.jpg) but when I try to access pages restricted to VerifiedUser, I get the error message captured in (notverifieduser1.jpg). Please HELP!!!

Testing this on a local system will not work unless you have installed and configured an SMTP server for sending the verification email.

You should be testing on the remote server.

only after clicking the link in the verification email will you be able to access the restricted page.

the error in the last screen shot means that the restricted page is a redirecting to a page that also has access restriction on it.

make sure that the access restriction behavior on the restricted page is set to redirect to a page that does not have restriction applied to it.

Hello Jason,

Thanks for your quick response.

I may be wrong but in the Create Email Message of Universal Email I clicked on the email icon and configured the mail and pearl SMTP with user authentication. I did subsequently receive an email with the verification link and was able to reach the restricted page after logging in without a problem. The problem arises when I change the email in the Userupdate page to test whether upon logging in and accessing restricted page will trigger a new verification link (the second email). The emailVerified database records changed to '0' but the second email using <?php echo $row_SecurityAssistpcms2users['UserEmail']; ?> will not send. As I try to access the same restricted page I get the error message captured in the images you see. It may well be down to the explanation you have given about the restricted page having access rule applied to it.

VerifiedUser restricts if <?php echo $_SESSION['SecurityAssist_UserID']; ?> = (I think this means the pages with VerifiedUser access rule restricts access to anyone logged in as Logged in to pcms2_users).
VerifiedUser allows if <?php echo $_SESSION['emailVerified']; ?> = 1
So effectively the user would need to have email verified to access pages with verifiedUser access rules.

Lastly, I take it that it would in any case be preferable to test this on a remote server and that I will do. I will also look at the restricted page and remove any previously applied access restrictions.
I will do that now and let you know the outcome.

Hello Jason,

Thanks for your help and advice. I am glad to inform you that the double Opt in registration is functional and perform as it should.

Testing the function on a remote server has made the difference.

Once again thank you.

I am befutteled!

I went all in and upgraded to the Super Suite.

To to point. How do I set up a user registration page now? What do I click on? What do I read.

It would be nice if I could "hide" the "documentation that I do not need" any longer.

Am I still to download and re-install the Registration solution pack?

Please!

I was on Super Suite too and then upgraded subsequently to Data Bridge and Design Extender. If you already have Security Assist Pages created with SecuirtyAssist 2.0.5, then from what I understand your pages should work fine with the upgrade.

Admittedly there are added features and functionality to Data Bridge that allows for the creation of email and double Opt in registration system and more. Although initially I had to get my head around the update but I do find creating Registration pages with Data Bridge much better and easier than what I had previously.

I hope this helps.

You are welcome.

For what its worth I believe the way WebAssist have closely integrated their various Dreamweaver extensions make good sense.

I have watched the video over and over... In the part of the video where she is on the "Blank.php" page....she is instructing us to cut and paste the code between the quotation marks. However when viewing her code the ending quote is missing. Is this just an error? I have tried it with one quote and not ending quote and with the ending quote before the closing "</a>

<a href=" code "</a>

or

<a href=" code </a>

In either case my text in the table row

"Verify email: Verify Here" does not show a link.

What to do now? Proceed anyway?
