MySQL Query browser

Hello there. I purchased the Dynamic Suite back in January. I have struggled with setup since so I'm going to hit the forums and see if I can find a solution for setting up the ecart.

The tutorials in the database starter kit seem to be geared towards having MySQL Query Browser installed. Other tutorials had me download XAMPP. I have downloaded XAMPP, created my localhost testing server and currently have apache and MySQL in the "running" mode.

My question is... Do I also need to download the MySQL Workbench (which has the MySQL Query Browser) in order to complete the database starterkit tutorials? I apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge in this area. I just want to get this setup so I can start building our stores.

The MySQL Work bench will help you follow along the database starter kit tutorial, but really any MySQL GUI Tool will do.

with Xampp is included a web based GUI Tool, PHPMyAdmin. there are also a host of others that are available like Heidi SQL or Sequel Pro.

It will be easier to follow using the work bench since it is similar Query Browser, but any of the GUI Tools will have the same functionality.

DBSK Tutorial doesn't match up with MySQL Workbench

I'm trying to follow the Flash tutorial for DataAssist Starter Kit, but the tutorial uses an interface for MySQL Query Browser which just doesn't match up with the current MySQL Workbench at all. I was able to create a new db and table with columns but there doesn't seem to be any simple way to get to anything like a "ResultSet 1" window to start entering information into the columns. I'm getting very confused trying to work back and forth with the tutorial. The interface in MySQL Workbench is so different now that it is very difficult to follow along.

Is another tutorial on the way, or is there somewhere on the web where I can find a simple tutorial that will make the rest of DBSK make sense?

See this page for details on entering data to your table using the mySQL Workbench:

Thank you. I've noticed a lot of disconnect between the current versions of the extensions and the "Getting Started" guides. Will those get updated sometime soon?

We have people working on creating new tutorials as well as re-doing old tutorials so that they are up to date. This is an ongoing process that you will see over the next few months.
