Repeat search but display results in specified order.

I'm using the Data Assist extension with a search results page and it's working really well. I've a series of drop down menus which make up the search page, and the relevant results are returned just as they should be. Perfect!

However . . .

I would like to be able to offer the web user the opportunity to display the results in an order that they specify. So once the results all appear I would like a drop down with 'Sort by' as a label. They would choose, click submit, and the search would be repeated with the same selections as the original search but the results displayed in the way they specify.

So I'm guessing it's going to be a form with a drop down list with values which submits to the same page, but I'm not sure exactly how to make it submit the original search again.

Can anyone help?

data assist search stores the original search in a session variable, if the page is reloaded without triggering the search behavior, it will automatically use the search stored in the session.

on the data assist support page, there is a tutorial for "Sorting by column links" in the solution recipes section that can help you get started.

you could use the same principal with a select list of columns instead of column links, just set the forms method to GET instead of POST, and name the select list "sort"
